The COPE program is a booklet-based cognitive behavioral therapy program that was designed for primary care providers to share with patients. COPE is 7 weekly sessions, plus additional check-ins as desired. It is evidence-based for mild to moderate depression and anxiety. Topics covered include the interaction between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, self-esteem, coping skills, and goal setting.
Ellen has been using this program with her patients for 5 years and finds it very rewarding and fun for both participants and practitioners!

Meet Dr. Ellen Lauer
Dr. Ellen Lauer practiced general pediatrics and Osteopathic manipulation in Bangor, ME for 14 years. She received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009 and then completed a pediatrics residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. Following this, she moved to Maine in 2012 and began work in primary care.
Through her experience, Dr. Lauer has seen that nurturing the connection between mind, body, and spirit is crucial to optimal health and well-being. Over the years, she received additional training in special interests of Osteopathic manipulation and cognitive behavioral therapy. Years ago, the vision for Finding Health bloomed, aiming to provide a form of healing practice difficult to achieve within the confines of current medical models.
Dr. Lauer is currently pursuing her master's degree in clinical mental health counseling, with an estimated graduation in 2028, and her goal is to expand the practice to include more general counseling at that time.
In her free time, Ellen enjoys spending time with family and friends and being in nature while hiking, biking, and jogging. Originally from Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Ellen has a love of Mr. Rogers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. She resides locally with her 3 children and their dog, PomPom.
I look forward to spending time in the woods with you as you find your own path to health and healing!
